G.A.S.A.K. Faces to Inspire-Day 1

DAY 1
Anthony Kirkwood (21 yrs) is a graffiti artist using the slain art form positively. Going by the name of GASAK, an abreviation for "Graffiti Art South Afican Kulture" is going to be staying in the notorious township of Kwa Mashu (North of Durban) for the next 5 days spraying a wall a day of "5 South African Icons" for his project "Faces to Inspire"

GASAK enjoyed a warm reception among the local community at C Section where his first mural was laid of Johnny Clegg. Johnny Clegg is respected for his input in indigenous music. Being part of Juluka and Savuka during Apartheid South Africa, Johnny Clegg an "English Speaking South African, has sold multiple platinum and gold albums in traditional Zulu Music is a feat to say the least As people gathered enthusiastically, Johnny Clegg took form on the back wall of a house. Spirits were high even though there was morning showers but the weather cleared as the day progressed.Children were inspired some even bringing their portfolios for GASAK to peak at and others taking photos with the artist.

From senior citizens all the way down to toddlers it was a cross generational affair. The owner of the house, a music lover spoke highly of the artists impression of Johnny Clegg and Clegg's lifelong achievements in music.
Legends of yesterday are inspiring the children of today who will be leaders of the tomorrow.
