The Holmes Brothers
DBN Street Culture had a sit down with Laurie 1 of the Holmes Bros, self proclaimed stylists surfboard manufacturers and Co-Owner of the Holmes Bros fashion house. This is how it went down....
The roots of Holmes Bros are in the crazy mid 90tiez due to scarcity of appealing brands, Levi Straus being the dominant brand due to foreign retail chains being the only door to fashion at the time. The Brothers stated manufacturing surfboards and corporate promotional apparel which lead to the official birth of the Holmes Bros brand in the 1999 at the dawn of the 21st century. The Brand has grown leaps and bounds with various sittings at local and international fashion shows, with a store in Cape Town and Durban-Gateway.
With their footprint in the fashion industry customers are coming for more, I bet its their satirical prints on t-shirts like, "MALEMA DOES NOT SURF", or "Nelson Mandela wearing a swimcap printed
"ROBBBEN ISLAND 1969 SWIMTEAM" (Holmes Bros Beware of the Scorpian sting ask Zapiro)
As an evolving brand technology is a must so you can catch their blog and group on facebook with a website on the way. No more catwalks fashion shows have gone too virtual space...
Durbans Party of the Decade held at Club Origin showcasing Durban Djs and clubs that rocked us the past 10 years; Tilt, Skybar, 330, Bargo, Pop Art, Bean Bag Bohemia De La Sol-Zetha Bar just to mention a few. Holmes was involved with Distribution and Sales this too show the versatility of the brand Dj Dumi who is running the Cape Town store was heavily involved with the gig. So yes music and fashion are siamese twins.
The Holmes Brothers are the forefathers or better yet fore Brothers of the Durban Street Culture chilled funkstars at heart. pull in at their stores with cash and card in hand treat your wardrobe with sum styles (they have many)

The Miller tent on the Suncoast Beach at North Beach. Too chilled, Dj Kyllex on the ones and 2s Crowd chilling and lounging off staring at waves with beer in hand. Sundowners with girls in bikinis ( 1 Hot girl with a scorpian Tattoo on her pelvis with a six pack......unhhhh) 80 meters away from the beach, kool breezing straight. Strange Summer Hotter sunners
Durban is going down as the best place this december to go into another decade.2011-2020 it has been great from 330, Tilt Skybar, Bean Bag Bohenia, Bargo Origin, 80iez, Pop Art, Joe Koel's. Awe awe awe...... kicking like original sea dwellers, shorts, slippers and beach.
