Early Morning Market-Centenary Year (e-markete)

Mural on the western freeway abutment of the Traditional Herb and Medicine Market ‘Nomkhubulwana’ by Community Murals Project, Photograph Richard Dobson for eThekwini Municipality

The Early Morning Market is  located at the Warwick Junction, Durban's "Heart of the City", with half a million commuters as daily traffic and estimated revenue of R1 Billion per annum, housing thousands of traders. The Early Morning Market has seen its fair share of Durban's history, it is embedded in it. The market trades in fresh fruit and vegetables, a livelihood for the traders as most of them are breadwinners in their respective families.
