15th Time of the Writer [19-24 March 2012]

The Time of the Writer is an international writers festival that has been a literary highlight in Durban's calendar for the past 14 years. Featuring reputable wordsmiths from South Africa and around the globe, a wealth of wisdom will be exchanged. The festival program includes book launches, seminars, writers presentation of their individual pieces, visits to schools to name a few highlights.

The writers that will be participating are; Bahaa Taher (Egypt), Colin Channer (Jamaica), Kwame Dawes (Ghana/Jamaica), Sefi Atta (Nigeria), Benjamin Kwakye (Ghana), Cynthia Jele (South Africa), Leila Marouane (France), Thando Mgqolozana ( South Africa), Yewande Omotoso (Nigeria/South Africa), David wa Maahlamela (South Africa), Jassy Mackenzie (South Africa), Chris Abani (Nigeria), Lebo Mashile (South Africa), Chris Marnewick (South Africa), Shubnum Khan (South Africa), Kgebetle Moele (South Africa), Dumisani Sibiya (South Africa), Ibrahim Al-Koni (Libya) and Ronnie Kasrils (South Africa).

The above mentioned writers are critically acclaimed in their native countries and have won many awards for their creative input in the arts.  The festival will be running evening sessions at UKZN Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre (University of Kwa Zulu Natal- Howard Campus) and a host of activities during the day.
